Fiddle Leaf Fig is a large growing, absolutely stunning houseplant that is quite popular but not the easiest houseplant to keep alive. It requires the right conditions, and being native to the African Jungle, this means plenty of filtered light and warm, humid conditions. It needs to be kept by a window where it will receive plenty of indirect sunlight (direct sun light will burn it's leaves) and away from draughts as well as heaters and air conditioners. Sudden changes in temperature can easily effect it. Fiddle Leaf Fig likes a moderately moist soil, over watering or underwatering will kill the plant. Water when the top few centimetres of soil are dry. Wipe it's leaves with a damp cloth every couple of weeks and rotate the pot. This will ensure your Fig will absorb optimal sunlight in order to flourish and keep it growing straight up instead of leaning towards the light. Regularly fertilise in the warmer months and leave it be in winter. Given the right care and conditions, the Fiddle Leaf Fig can grow up to 3m, making it the ultimate focal point of the room. |
